Medicloud Now Supports Direct Payments to Healthcare Providers – A Game Changer for Claims Settlement!

Health insurance administration just got a significant upgrade! At Medismarts, we strive to make life easier for Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs), healthcare providers, and ultimately, patients. That’s why we’re excited to announce a powerful new feature on Medicloud: Direct Payments to Providers.


This update eliminates one of the most frustrating aspects of claims processing & payment reconciliation. With our new direct payment integration powered by Stanbic IBTC Bank’s Virtual Account service, Medicloud offers seamless, secure, real-time claims and payment processing.



The Problem: “Marked as Paid” Wasn’t Always Paid

In the previous version of Medicloud, HMOs could mark claims as “paid” after they were processed. While this served as a bookkeeping mechanism, there was no link to real-world bank transactions. For providers, this meant:


• Difficulty in reconciling payments on their end.


• Repeated back-and-forth with HMOs for payment evidence.


• Time was lost disputing payments that were unclear or delayed.


Providers were left trying to match their bank alerts with dashboard entries, a process that was inefficient, error-prone, and strained relationships, and consumed precious time. For HMOs, it meant dealing with a flood of support tickets or calls about payments they had already processed but couldn’t easily validate.


It was clear: there had to be a better way.



The Solution: Real-Time Payments via Virtual Accounts


Now, with our integration with Stanbic IBTC’s Virtual Account service, Medicloud handles everything, from claim approval to actual payment, within one platform.


Here’s how it works:


1. Virtual Account Setup


Each HMO gets a dedicated Stanbic IBTC virtual account, which it can fund like any other business account.


2. Visible Account Balance


Once the HMO account gets funded, the balance is immediately visible on the HMO’s Medicloud dashboard, so they always know what funds are available for payments.


3. Bank Details Validation


Before payments are processed, Medicloud automatically validates each provider’s bank account details to ensure they match the registered provider name, thereby reducing the risk of errors or fraud.


4. Direct Provider Payment


When it’s time to pay, Medicloud executes the payment directly from the HMO’s virtual account to the provider’s bank account.


5. Instant Notification & Traceability


Providers receive:


◦ Immediate payment alerts


◦ An email with the bank transaction reference


◦ A downloadable payment advice on their portal


Which means zero ambiguity and complete transparency.


6. Reconciliation Made Easy


With real-time payment details and downloadable records, providers can reconcile transactions without contacting HMOs for clarification. If there’s ever a dispute, the transaction reference number makes it easy to trace and resolve.
